Reading is something I don't get excited about. I would say reading is not important but we all know that's not true. Reading is important for many reasons that I'm not going to get into. I say why read a book when you can occupy yourself with stuff like TV,video games, an the almighty Internet we all use. why? -----> insert Corney line here (I just don't know what to write). So on with the books. So one book this year that I love(a word I don't use a lot) is "Fallen Angels" by Walter Dean Myers. Lets see...how can I put this. I must like this book because I didn't read it twice but thrice..
.wait that makes no sense. I meant three times(see what TV does to me). picking up the same book twice is pretty rare for me because I'm picky with mostly everything. So on with the book. The story revolves around Richie Perry a seventeen-year-old high school graduate from Harlem. He is living the dead end city life. So he joins the Army. Joining the Army during this time period means fighting in Vietnam and Richie hadn't realized how horrifying that would be. At home waits an alcoholic single mother and a younger brother (Kenny) who depends on him. His love for Kenny is his only reason for fighting this war. Richie is more of a father figure to Kenny. Richie and his mother have never gotten along. They try to repair their damaged relationship through their letters. The letters are an important part of the story. The letters Richie writes home symbolize his changing attitude toward the war...

I guarantee if you don't like this book I will be glad to let you punch me in the gut (maybe). Well if you have spare time you should pick up this book and give it a try you might like it...or love it. Until I find another book (worthy of my writing) this book will have to do, like I said I don't have many books I "love".
